I should like to solicit the help of all students and staff in aiding our newest residents to settle into life here. Perhaps you've forgotten, but the first weeks away from home are filled with a bewildering number of new tasks and routines. On top of that, there are new skills to be mastered.
While it may seem trivial to those who've grown accustomed to it, negotiating meal times can be one of the most difficult of those new things. Our young friends often need guidance regarding appropriate eating habits.
Remember: too much sugar in the teacup can be as unfortunate as too many slices of turnip roast or too much pudding.

Date: 2014-09-07 03:58 am (UTC)Septima. I've Aengus Witter here, who reports that he 'found' a handful of pastilles in the common room, which he ate in quick succession, failing to notice until he'd finished the sixth or seventh that his hair had begun growing at an alarming rate. By the time he reached me, he was as thickly furred as a bugbear and was being quite swarmed by chizpurfles. (I will speak to Mina about ridding us of those.)
I'm afraid that the cure for this is proving traumatic. Of course, it was absolutely necessary to use a strong depilatory potion. He might have suffocated had I delayed treatment. Allow me to assure you, he is quite well now, but the idea of returning to his dormitory in his present state is more than he can contemplate. (I wonder if there might not be some tension in his dormitory that bears looking into.) As he seems genuinely undone by the thought of returning to Ravenclaw tower tonight, I will allow him to stay here until breakfast, but I see no reason he shouldn't go along for the morning meal.
